Termite Inspection and Termite Certification vs. Home Inspection

Posted on

Knowing the difference can SAVE you hundreds of dollars.

I had a new customer call the other day who thought he might have a termite problem – he was seeing termite swarmers in a number of areas around the foundation of his home.

He purchased his home in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, less than a year ago and was given a green light from his Home Inspector that the property was termite free.

The Home Inspector was recommended to him by his Realtor.

I made an appointment with him for a Free Termite Inspection and unfortunately to my new customer’s dismay – there was live termite activity, as well as structural damage from subterranean termites over quite a long period of time. Neither of which was pointed out to him by the Home Inspector, or documented in his Home Inspection Report.

Now, my new customer needs to pay for termite treatment to control the termites and has to pay to repair the damage these little monsters caused over time to his new home.

Long story short, check the credentials of anyone involved in the purchase or sale of your home.

Do your own homework and do not solely rely on the recommendations of others.

Just because someone is a Certified Home Inspector – does not always mean they ALSO have the experience OR the credentials to do a Certified Termite Inspection as required by law here in the state of New Jersey.

If you suspect that termites have infested your home, call us right away for a FREE TERMITE INSPECTION.
