Consumers – Buying or Selling a Home?
What every consumer needs to know about wood-destroying insect reports.
Why Inspect?
Every year thousands of homes are infested by termites or other wood destroying organisms. As a home purchaser, it is important for you to understand the value of your termite inspection before investing your hard-earned money. This knowledge and a professional representative from AB-Con at your side will put your mind at ease.
Who Orders an Inspection?
Depending on your state’s real estate laws or established practices, the inspection service firm may be selected by the buyer, his agent or the lending institution. As the buyer, you should be advised of the company performing the inspection.
What does the inspection entail?
Performed by a qualified AB-Con representative, all readily accessible visible areas will be inspected, reporting any evidence of infestation. We check the structure from top to bottom, from the basement to crawl space to the attic. Inspection may include sounding or probing suspected infestation areas; however, the inspector cannot see behind walls or under carpeting, where infestation may remain undetected.
What if evidence of infestation is found?
AB-Con will recommend appropriate treatment to control the pest. Termite treatment is warranted for one year, allowing for re-treatment at no additional cost if a further infestation is found. At your anniversary date, you may join AB-Con’s many satisfied customers with our renewal warranty program, consisting of yearly re-inspections.

Conventional Liquid Treatment
This is a combination of trenching and drilling around the home’s interior and exterior perimeter and injecting non-repellent products referred to as termiticides. Non-repellent products wipe out the colony and add significant success to reducing the re-occurrence of termites.
Structural Damage Repairs
“Damage” is an alarming term. It may be superficial or quite extensive. Damage is evidence of infestation, but infestation may or may not include damage.
Our team of experienced trades’ people can assess damage due to wood destroying insects, and perform the repairs in a timely, cost-efficient manner. This is important to our clients because it means you only deal with one company. Most termite treatment companies are not equipped or insured to provide this service and have no choice but to subcontract repairs to an outside firm. This will almost always result in higher repair costs.
